Project52 Week 27: Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses - U2 Cover

I know. It's been too long of a wait for a song that's also too long. Sorry, Bono.

Project52 represents a resistance against the fraternal twins of perfectionism and procrastination; the idea that I don’t have the time to do a thing perfectly or “good enough” has killed more creativity in my life than Carter has pills.

Inspired by a friend, who showed me a recently completed music video project of his (that was very well done), I caught myself exhaling a familiar, “Oh, I wish I had the time to do that with my own ideas…” I suddenly realized the trap I had repeatedly let myself get caught in. I was once again listening to the self-fulfilling prophecy of "See, I told you so. I knew it wasn't going to be 'good enough'!"

Project52 is an attempt at freeing the prisoners of creativity and inspiration. It’s just throwing up the sails to catch the wind, let them be filled and move where it takes you.

I’ve recorded my share of originals and covers over the hears in my home studio, complete with instrumentation and even a music video. These are usually intense and prolonged efforts done over weeks or months in the spare moments between work and family; sometimes at the expense of one or both.

Project52 is simply sitting in front of a mic and recording one take. It’s kinda raw and unplugged without special effects or layered instruments. Most are covers with some originals (hopefully) sprinkled in for good measure.
