Dark Eyes, also known as Les Yeux Noirs, has been a gypsy jazz standard since it was recorded by Django Reinhardt in 1940. This video shows how to play a violin solo using 20 gypsy jazz violin licks. We are guided through the chord sequence to see how each lick can work within the solo. Techniques and ideas include arpeggio licks, harmonic minor scale licks, parallel fifths, blues licks, making the chords do the work, following one chord into the next and so on.
These ideas are further described in my books" Exploring Jazz Violin" and "Beginning Jazz violin:, published by Schott.;
